The new Livebox was designed to accommodate customers’ increased usage and their need to share speeds in the home. With Livebox 5, Orange is going one step further in its initiative to reduce its equipment’s carbon footprint.

The Livebox 5: designed for current and future use

The Livebox 5 is easy to install, requiring fewer cables and no longer needing a fibre box (ONT).
Dedicated to fibre, the Livebox 5 is efficient, providing a boosted shared download speed within the home of up to 2 Gbit/s (and up to 600 Mbit/s upload) for more convenience. The download speed has been doubled so the entire family can use their devices at the same time, offering up to 1 Gbit/s per device.

Livebox 5 is available with the new Livebox Up offers and Open Up Fibre packs.

It is also equipped with Smart WiFi for an increasingly effective and stable connection. Smart WiFi reduces disruption caused by neighbouring WiFi by automatically selecting the best frequency and the best Livebox 5 channel. Tests have demonstrated a 40% increase in download speeds (in comparison with the WiFi provided by unequipped Liveboxes).
For improved coverage throughout the home, the WiFi repeater is available for free on demand with the Livebox Up offers and  Open Up packs. The Smart WiFi compatible with this repeater allows customers to benefit from improved WiFi coverage throughout their home and offers a smoother service when moving from one room to another.
Finally, customers can use the Ma Livebox application, offering various functionalities such as a mapping tool to optimise their WiFi installation in the home, and control of each device’s connection time.
Orange remains committed to reducing the carbon footprint of its Liveboxes
With each Livebox generation, Orange aims to reduce its equipment’s carbon footprint. Each year, 2.7 million Liveboxes are reused, and 100% of returned boxes are recycled. As a committed and responsible operator, Orange has decided to go one step further to control its environmental impact.
To do this, and in line with business initiatives for the Livebox 4 and UHD TV decoder, Orange has worked with its partners to improve production and reduce the carbon footprint of the new Livebox 5 by 29%:

  • a 100% recycled plastic case,
  • a lighter and more compact product,
  • fewer electronic components, which makes it easier to repair and recycle,
  • a new design allowing passive ventilation, without a fan.

A new range and increased speeds for all

Each French household now has an average of 6 screens. With this figure in mind and aware of our customers’ growing expectations, Orange is renewing its Fibre and xDSL offers by selling a new Livebox Up and Open Packs range from 10 October.
Through these new offers, all of our customers - both Fibre and xDSL - will be able to benefit from a second TV access point, on demand(1), to watch Orange TV anywhere and at any time. They can choose between a second UHD TV decoder (4K and Dolby Atmos compatible) or a TV dongle to watch Orange TV on the go throughout Europe.
The WiFi repeater is available for free on demand with the Livebox Up offers and Open Up packs.
The Connected Home service - which is used to control and manage connected devices to simplify families’ everyday lives - is available after activation via the application.
Finally, the new Livebox Up offers and  Open Up packs include unlimited calls from landlines to mobiles in Europe (plus USA and Canada).

“From its functionalities to the components and materials used, our new Livebox was designed to offer the very best of the network whilst reducing its environmental impact. Orange is particularly proud to launch a product today which meets our standards in terms of the quality offered to our customers, as well as environmental accountability”, explains Fabienne Dulac, Orange France Executive Director.

The Livebox Up Fibre offer is available from €30.99/month for 12 months then €49.99/month
The Open Up Fibre Packs offer is available from €28.99/month for 12 months then €52.99/month
